DETROIT STYLE PIZZA
*Available Wednesdays.* Buddy’s Pizza – Detroit – founded in 1946 – is considered the birthplace of the Detroit Style Square Pizza. The uniqueness of this pizza comes from the pan used for baking and the processes used in making. Originally these square pans were used in auto manufacturing as trays to hold parts. As the story goes someone stretched dough into one of these pans and the rest is history. In addition to the pan - the dough, cheese and procedure are specific to this style of pizza. The dough is created to achieve a crust that is thick yet light with a crisp bottom.This pizza also has the sauce on top of the pie allowing the flavor of the toppings to burst through without saturating the crust. The use of Wisconsin Brick Cheese further separates this pizza from other pizza styles and the caramelization of this cheese around the outside of the crust forms a delicious golden edge. You’re gonna love this!
